This is old news, but: the mass network media isn’t to be trusted.

And this video on Fox News killing a story critical of an advertiser is an excellent example of why they can’t be trusted.

In fact, in our Internet age, really nothing can be trusted anymore. Companies pay people to post positive things about them on Internet forums. Israel pays people to monitor Wikipedia to make sure that facts that put Israel into a bad light are removed from articles. Combined with people who think it’s fun to spread misinformation, these are dangerous times indeed.

A democracy requires an informed public, and to be informed, you must be your own advocate when seeking out what is true, what is real. Those who choose to be idle and merely consume what they are offered will never live in anything but a dreamworld created by others.

Freedom isn’t free. It requires constant effort.

Federal judge rules in favor of jury nullification pamphleteer

A federal judge has ruled that a man broke no law by standing outside a courthouse distributing pamphlets regarding jury nullification, the power of the jury to acquit a defendant based on the decision that the law itself is unjust.

Jury nullification goes back a long way in legal history, but took quite a beating during the Civil Rights era as white southern jurors used it to acquit people of lynchings they were clearly guilty of. Nowadays the court system doesn’t even want to admit that jurors are as powerful and important in the judicial process as they actually are, and certainly don’t want them acquitting people of non-violent offenses like simple possession of marijuana because they consider the laws stupid and more harmful than the drugs themselves.
